The Development

John Southworth and Mosscare St. Vincent’s Housing worked collaboratively on this new and exciting  scheme, consisting of 6 two-storey walk-up apartments and 18 two and three-storey, three and four bedroom homes in a mixed tenure of 8 rent to buy and 16 affordable-rent.

A certified Passivhaus scheme, the development benefits from off-road parking and energy-saving features  including Hot Water Heat Pumps and EV Charging Points, all of which reduce energy consumption and bills  for the tenants. The homes also benefit a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery System (MVHR), to  provide fresh, clean and comfortable air all year along.

Located in Harpurhey, just over two miles from the city centre of Manchester, the development provides  easy access to the motorway network and public transport. The area benefits from local schools, shops  and entertainment facilities.

With its traditional market offering an array of fresh produce, homewares, clothing, jewellery and  accessories, as well as hosting local events, Harpurhey has great community spirit! The local Youth Zone  offers a safe space for young people, where they can enjoy activities such as Art, Cooking, Drama, Music  and Sports. For a slower pace, located close by is Queens Park, a cherished local green space with its  football pitches, play areas and trails. All of which make Harpurhey a great place for families to live.

Parkmount is another development we have worked on forming part of the Project 500 scheme, transforming derelict, brownfield sites into new, vibrant communities and much-needed homes in the  area.

Committed to adding social value

John Southworth don’t just build homes; they are committed to building and contributing to communities.

  • Employed and supported 3no apprentices on the scheme.

  • 61% of subcontractors appointed locally.
  • Attended job fairs in the area, outlining the positive benefits of careers in construction.
  • Improvement of local disused Brownfield site into a vibrant new community, delivering much-needed,  sustainable homes to the area.
  • Provided industry placements to support The Manchester College – 25 total students.  Resurfaced the car park at Edward Grant Court, a neighbouring care home.
