As we celebrate Women In Construction Week and International Women’s Day, let’s remember that only 11% of the construction industry is made up of women.

You may not be surprised by this gender imbalance, but here at John Southworth, we challenge the industry stereotype. We’re proud to have women working in various roles, including site and project management.

This years theme for International Women’s Day is #EmbraceEquity, and there is an ongoing need for equity within the construction industry.

Collectively, we can all play an important role in forging an equal world.

Our hardworking, and extremely talented Business Director, Jackie Brown, has over 18 years’ of experience in construction, and she is a passionate advocate for encouraging women to consider construction as a career path.

At John Southworth, we are committed to equality, we have equal opportunities for all our team – and we do not have a gender pay gap, which is something that across the sector that should be improved.

My own career is something that I am incredibly proud of, I have worked in various roles, and I value the variety and challenge that I get in my role as Business Director.

I am proud to be sharing opportunities to work in construction, to build a large and supportive network of like-minded people and to be linking in with local schools and colleges to make sure
the next generation of women know that construction could be the perfect career choice for them.
